- Drive from Füssen, Germany to Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland
- Enter Switzerland!
- Hotel Regina in Wengen, Switzerland
Rest Stop
Today was our earliest departure date but we still had plenty of time for breakfast at the hotel before heading out to leave Germany, passing through Austria, for today's destination of Switzerland.
We stopped at a rest stop in Hohenems in Austria called Rosehill; a very clean more modern place for a stop and of course, a delicious coffee!

Hello, Switzerland! - "Hallo Die Schweiz!" - "bonjour la Suisse!" - "ciao Svizzera!"
Switzerland's national languages are German, French, Italian and Romansh. Romansh is spoken by only about 0.5% of the population, however, it is an integral part of Swiss culture. Swiss German is also a dialect in certain areas. For this trip, we mostly will encounter German, French, Italian.

Tonight we stay in Wengen, a car-free village one train stop up the mountain from the valley, so we leave the bus here in Lauterbrunnen town.
Binocular views from the comfort of our hotel balcony! Low clouds still offer great views.
Walk around Wengen
For dinner, we walked down the hill from the hotel into Wengen to the Coop Supermarkt Wengen; visiting grocery markets on vacation is part of the fun and provide a proper meal and snacks, plus to see the marketing difference of some products, including different ingredients!
We had bought some bottled water here, but then later realized that just behind Troy in the photo below, is a public water fountain right near where we catch the train. Oh "well"!
