Fräulein Maria’s Sound of Music Bicycle Tour
Whether you are a fan of the movie The Sound of Music or not, we can highly recommend Fräulein Maria’s Sound of Music Bicycle Tour! A couple on our tour had not even seen the Sound of Music yet, but still had a lovely time pedaling through Salzburg on charming bicycles. The tour reflects the movie as well as some history of Salzburg and information on the real Von Trapp family. Our guide, Hope, was full of knowledge and had wonderful energy!
When we biked out of the city center, our tour guide put on some of the songs from the movie soundtrack and you could not help but smile and sing along! Plus, the guide is kind enough to take photos of you at the famous spots, which is very helpful getting photos together when traveling just as a pair.

Mozart around town!
Unfortunately, we did not allocate time to visit either Mozart's Birthplace - "Mozarts Geburtshaus" and Mozart's Residence - "Mozart Wohnhaus" but we did enjoy "seeing" him around town!
Getreidegasse
Getreidegasse, located in the heart of Old Salzburg, full of shops, inns, and more, and has been around since Roman times.
Summer came in like a lion today; 34 °C = 93 °F!
We were glad to have our bicycle tour done over in the morning with this heat looming!
Ashli enjoys a good local coffee shop and the hot city day called for an iced coffee break at Nur Coffee, which translates to "Only Coffee". They slung over 3,796 coffee drinks in this month alone and I bet they were mostly iced! We also like to support small coffee shops by buying a bag of whole beans to take home and enjoy at home; a great souvenir!

Salzburg Cathedral - "Salzburger Dom"
While we have a nice-sized Cathedral in our home state's capital in St. Paul, this Troy's first viewing of an even larger European Cathedral and it definitely does not disappoint in its size and beauty. Salzburg Cathedral is in the style of Italian Baroque from around 1614-1628. The dome is 230 feet high.
Let's start the My Way Alpine Tour!
Group Rendevous at the hotel
Palace Concert at the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace
Prior to the concert starting, we wandered through the colorful gardens of Mirabell Palace. The gardens are free to wander around to enjoy the many floral displays and a picture perfect view of the gardens with Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Another group member reminded us of the Dwarf Park hidden off to the side which were a joy to explore! Our favorites are below.

Concert at Mirabell Palace
To watch a quartet play music written by Mozart, in the very room of Mirabell Palace where Mozart himself played, was really magical.
Goodnight! - "Gute Nacht!"
Today's "Wow" Moment
I never thought I'd be biking in Salzburg but I loved it; especially when we went outside of the city and biked through green pastures with the mountain backdrop- Troy |
Biking through Salzburg was such a unique and fun experience; this view from across Nonnberg Abbey paired up with a sunny warm day was just gorgeous! - Ashli |
